Amazon Affiliate Link Types - Feature Guide

You can choose from two different affiliate link types for Amazon depending on your preference. To change the link type, go to "Offer Settings" in your admin area and choose the "Amazon Settings" tab.

Product Page Link

With this option all of your Amazon affiliate links will go directly to the product page. This generally has higher conversion rates than Add to Cart links.

The affiliate cookie length is 24 hours for Product Page links. This means you will get affiliate commission for any purchases made within 24 hours of clicking your link.

Add to Cart Link

The "Add to Cart" links are currently broken on Amazons end and not working consistently. We do not recommend using them at the moment until Amazon fixes it.

With this option all of your affiliate links will go to an "Add to Cart" page on Amazon which looks like this:

A 90 day cookie is set when this link type is used, providing the user clicks "Add to Cart" as shown in the screenshot above. The cookie can be even longer if the user is logged in to Amazon because their cart is saved indefinitely.

Please note that if the offer is out of stock or no longer available on Amazon, your store will automatically use a Product Link or Search Link as appropriate. This will increase your conversion rate as in these scenarios a Add to Cart link would not work.

Search Links

If an offer is no longer available on Amazon, the links will automatically change to a search results page on Amazon. This gives your visitor some alternatives that they can purchase and sets the 24 hour cookie.

Which link type should you use?

The Add to Cart link type gives you a longer affiliate cookie which in theory will give you more sales. However, the extra step required can lower your conversion rate and therefore earnings.

With Product Page links you get a 24 hour cookie and that applies to any product the user purchases. Therefore they may keep browsing Amazon and find multiple products they want to buy, increasing your commissions. You don't get this benefit with Add to Cart links.

Our recommendation is to use Product Page links unless you are confident your visitors will buy the exact products in your store.

For example, if your niche is "Business Books" and you have listed only the best books in your store, then your visitors will likely not look for alternatives on Amazon. In this case you can try Add to Cart links.
